R.I.P Frankie’s

This place was / is special to a lot of us rock n roll tragics. Sacred ground. Always the best tunes pumping out at all hours, the best pizza in Sydney, the best cold beer flowing from the taps, and most important of all… the best bands playing on the best fucking stage in Sydney… Period! The irony is of course that the real reason a slicker rail system is needed is because it will take you to incredible venues like Frankie’s…. The place they’re shutting down to build said rail system

But regardless of the reason, just one week from now, it’ll all be over and we’re all devastated. Frankie’s gave shit kicking bands like us the rarest of opportunities… to feel like rockstars for one night. Getting that call up from Jordan telling you you’re booked in always made your day. Because you just knew it meant another kick ass night at Frankie’s. One of the few places people came to see what bands were playing that night, not because they knew who was playing. One of the few places your mates actually wanted to come see you play!

From the deepest depths of the hearts of the Dead Set, we thank you Frankie’s Pizza By The Slice for giving us bands a shot at playing on that amazing stage of yours. For making other venues lift their fucking game! For keeping rock n roll alive for us Sydney Siders

We truly hope you find a unicorn venue somewhere in Sydney that will allow you to recreate the magic. But fuck we are glad we had the opportunity to grace the stage of the OG a bunch of times and we will NEVER forget that feeling.
