  • The Dead Set call it a day

    Greetings rock n rollers,

Keeping an independent band up and running these days is bloody hard work. Making it look like we know what the hell we’re doing is even harder! Juggling all that effort with the fact that this is supposed to be fun makes it the challenging beast that it is at times.

The Dead Set has been a passion of mine for the past 10 years. Often, to my determent. But never to my disappointment. Writing, recording and performing songs with mates is, in my humble opinion, the most fun anyone can have standing up. I’ve had some amazing experiences over the past 10 years, sharing stages with bands I truly love with people I’m proud to call mates.

There was so much more I wanted to do with this band. 2025 was supposed to be a year of rebuilding. Coming back stronger than ever to get back out there and kick some ass! But I’m tired boss. Delay after delay, and set back after set back. It brings you back down to earth a bit and make you think about other parts of your life that you’ve been neglecting for so long.

It’s been a hell of a ride… from sharing stages with bands like The Hard Ons, Front End Loader, The Dark Clouds, Dept of Gloom, Large Mirage and Raising Ravens…. being offered the chance to put on a lineup, including of course The Dead Set on the mighty Metro stage?!?! We were the first gig at the Metro after things opened up the first time after Covid lockdown and the last before they closed back up again! Talk about threading a needle! I remember distinctly being at my daughters’ parent teacher night desperately fielding calls to keep that gig happening! Unquestionably the highlight of my musical journey so far. And of course 2 albums full of rock n roll songs that I’m damned proud of!

But it’s time to call it a day. At least to go on the most rock n roll of all cliches… “Indefinite Hiatus”.

I can’t thank the bands, my bandmates and most important of all… the punters that came see us, bought a t-shirt or streamed our music that we poured so much into over these last 10 years. I fucking love you all!

Who knows, we may be back to annoy you all with gig invites again sometime in the future. But for now…. Thank you and goodnight.

    Love,
    Your pal,
    Craig / The Dead Set
